CEBTS - Consortium of European Baptist Theological Schools

Who we are

The European Baptist Federation brings together over fifty Baptist Unions and Conventions throughout Europe and the Middle East in partnership in the work of the Christian Gospel from a base of a common ecclesiological and missionary background.

CEBTS was founded in September 2001.

Some of the main emphases of Baptist life and thought which undergird our working together are contained in the document What are Baptists? This document is not a credal statement or Confession of Faith, but rather an explanation of the sort of people and communities of faith to be found within the European Baptist Federation.

The Baptist Unions and Conventions of the European Baptist Federation (hereafter the EBF) are assisted in the work of forming pastors, missionaries, teachers, leaders and co-workers by over fifty theological seminaries and Bible schools throughout Europe and the Middle East. Many of these were founded by the relevant national Union or Convention and most are owned by the relevant national Union or convention, or are full members of the Union or convention. One institution, the International Baptist Theological Seminary (IBTS) is owned by all the member Unions jointly through the EBF.

Any theological seminary owned by an EBF member Union or by the EBF itself, or any theological seminary which officially cooperates with an EBF member Union may apply to join the Consortium of European Baptist Theological Schools (CEBTS).
